The WVU Libraries have negotiated a 15% discount on the Article Processing Charge (APC) for WVU-affiliated authors when publishing in BMC and SpringerOpen Journals.
WVU does not use a submission code or an account number to verify your affiliation for BMC or SpringerOpen. You should be able to proceed to the next page in the BMC Springer Open article acceptance process and confirm your affiliation without a code or account number.
WVU uses the following processes at the time of submission to verify your affiliation as explained on the BMC Submission guidelines:
Submitting from within institutional IP ranges − automatic IP recognition
If you submit from within your institution's registered IP ranges, you will be asked to confirm that you would like to use your institutional membership account. Otherwise, please follow the instructions below.
Submitting from outside institutional IP ranges
If you are submitting from outside of your institution’s registered IP ranges, you will need to submit a request for the discount to be approved.
1. Click 'I believe that I am covered by a BMC/ SpringerOpen Membership Account and wish to request institutional payment or discount (as applicable).’
2. Select your institution from the dropdown list.
3. Submit your manuscript.
4. Our Customer Services team will contact the administrator of your institutional membership to verify your affiliation.
