Public Performance Rights for library streaming video services vary depending on the platform. Here is basic information for major platforms.

Academic Video Online & Alexander Street Press |
Any screening that includes only faculty, staff, or students doesn’t require PPR. Public Performance Rights are needed anytime you’re planning to screen the film to members of the public (meaning attendees who are not library patrons). 99% of the films in AVON do come with limited PPR, so screenings of these 99% that do include public attendees are also permitted, as long as no admission is being charged. Because of that 1%, please consult your subject librarian (https://directory.lib.wvu.edu/subjects) before including any members of the public in a screening. |

Kanopy |
Kanopy videos can be watched by any and all authorized viewers (WVU faculty, staff, and students), whether in a group or individual viewing context. Viewing films in a group forum is permitted for all Kanopy films for classroom viewings and most Kanopy films for non-classroom group settings as long as the viewing is by authorized viewers only and is not for commercial benefit (i.e. no admission costs are charged and no profit is made from the screening). Please consult your subject librarian (https://directory.lib.wvu.edu/subjects) and we will confirm if the film is available for a showing to a group forum that includes members of the public. |

Swank |
Swank streaming service does not come with any public performance rights. The films in Swank are solely for educational use (classroom or course reserve viewing) to support curriculum being taught by professors. |
